A Certificate of Good Conduct, also called police clearance, is issued by the Uganda Police Force Directorate of Interpol and International Relations. Employers, embassies and immigration authorities often ask for it.

- Visa and residence permit applicants
- Students applying to some foreign universities
- Foreigners leaving Uganda who need proof of conduct while resident
Requirements
- National ID or passport copy
- Passport size photos
- Payment slip for the prescribed fee
- A letter or reason for application may be requested
Process
- Generate the payment registration slip and pay the fee at a bank or through the URA payment system.
- Visit the Interpol office in Kibuli (Kampala) or a designated regional centre with your documents.
- Have your fingerprints taken and submit your application.
- Collect your certificate after processing.
How long does it take?
Processing time varies. Apply early, especially if you have a visa or job deadline.
Tips
- Check whether your embassy needs the certificate to be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Confirm validity periods; many institutions accept certificates issued within the last six months
- Use official channels only
