Interviews make most people nervous. The good news is that most interviewers ask similar questions. Prepare for these and you will walk in with confidence.
1. Tell us about yourself
Give a two minute summary: your current role or studies, key skills, one or two achievements and why you want this job. Do not recite your whole CV.
2. Why do you want to work here?
Research the organisation. Mention its work, values or recent projects and connect them to your goals.
3. What are your strengths?
Pick two or three strengths relevant to the job and give a short example for each.
4. What is your greatest weakness?
Choose a real but manageable weakness and explain how you are improving it.
5. Tell us about a challenge you overcame
Use the STAR method: Situation, Task, Action, Result.
6. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Show ambition that fits the organisation, such as growing into a leadership or specialist role.
7. What are your salary expectations?
Research the market range and give a range rather than a single figure. Show flexibility for the right opportunity.
8. Do you have any questions for us?
Always ask one or two: what success looks like in the role, team structure or next steps.
